Default New tidbits from PC Gamer interview

GuildCast interviewed Kristen Salvatore from PC Gamer who wrote the Guild Wars EOTN / GW2 article. You can listen to it here: www.guildcast.com

Much of the interview is stuff that has been covered in the various summaries (and a lot is shameless plugging of the article), but I found it very good listening.

There were two little, new pieces of information in the interview for those that don't want to listen to the whole thing.

1) Kristen said it is NOT confirmed that GW:EN will be sold at a reduced price. Although reported in the original Inquirer story, this part is NOT valided by PC Gamer. That doesn't mean it isn't true - just unconfirmed.

2) Kristen said one thing she didn't include in her story was Anet's close following of Game forums. There are apparently several people at Anet whose job it is to read forums and compile reports on what is being debated and discussed. I assume Gaile Gray is one of the people she meant, but maybe there are info collectors and Gaile is more the "voice of Anet".

Anyway, I found it interesting and thought I'd pass on the new bits of info.

I haven't read it, so I can't contradict you. Odd that she would say it was unconfirmed then. Maybe she didn't read her own story.

I've never heard of an expansion at full price. But Anet likes to try new things. Haha. I just hope full price expansions isn't one of them!

It will be $48.99. (just kidding folks!)

I don't care what it costs, it's the last Guild Wars expansion. I'd buy a CE for $60.

Oh man, CE of GW:EN.... wonder if that means a new special dance for all classes? Ya know, since there is no new classes. Hmm...

I'm so getting it!

^Or maybe there'll be no special emote bonus, but two minipets.

That is some extremely reassuring information. If only ANet had told us something to this extent before, some people might have thought more positively towards them here.

I didn't believe they did that at first. Now I regret the day long ago when I posted "report this!" and posted a picture of my bare...

just kidding

I don't remember hearing it's the last. In fact I remember them saying that others may be planned.

For regular Guild Wars? I don't think so...

But, yeah, there has to be expansions for Guild Wars 2. How else will they make money?

I know you are joking, but I just wanted to add that the PCGamer article specifically states "Should we expect microtransactions, where players have to pay for superior in-game items? No.. Should we expect any sort of pay-to-play scheme at all? No. Will there be any, even remote changes - any changes of any sort - to the current Guild Wars business model? No, no and no, says Mike OBrien."

The last one I take with a grain of salt. There is already a massive change in the current business model, the cancellation of Chapters.

But, I take the quote to mean, that the primary income for Guild Wars 2 will be some sort of expansions being sold at regular intervals, and nothing else being sold... except maybe Character Slots, of course!
